She tried to explain that this certain order of activity in the household may cause arthritis later in life. Madam thought that Aida is already suffering from arthritis. The Singaporean employer complained to her agent about the case of her maid and tried to send her back to the Philippines. The agent is fortunately familiar to the common causes of arthritis and explained to Madam what the maid wants to express. In the end, Aida was spared from being terminated and gave her best efforts to satisfy her employer until her contract ended.
There are Chinese habits and ways the maids are unfamiliar with. When someone new from a different culture stays in your house for a long time like a Filipino maid, it is better if you generally explain to her some of the common Chinese etiquette so she may know what to do in certain situations. To avoid humiliation and awkward situations especially and gatherings in your house and public places, it is always better to inform her about these things as early as possible.
